A decade ago, we, Jolande Siepman and Eelco Grebel, left our house in the city centre of Utrecht, The Netherlands, to set out on a new journey, with the view to live in the French countryside.
Jolande had worked for 20 years in logistics, in film distribution, and at a large computer company. Two years just before her departure, she got retrained and found a job in healthcare.
Eelco, originally skilled as an advertising photographer, had owned a renovation and maintenance company for 15 years.
After five years of travel and adventure, we found our ‘small paradise’, in our favourite region of France, ‘la Drôme’.
The region offers diverse nature, a combination of the rugged mountains and the lovely valleys full of lavender and vineyards. And we love the rich cultural life and the progressive mentality of the inhabitants. There is always something to do and at the same time we depict us on the other side of the world.
The campsite and the Inn have now undergone a major transformation. Of the wonky situation that we encountered is now little more to see. The first years we have rebuilt and renovated a lot on the campsite and in the Inn to create an atmosphere and facilities that we had in mind. We are proud of the result!
We keep on dreaming and still add facilities. In 2015 we have created and attractive indoor space at the bar of the camp site. This can be used, as well as restaurant for weddings and parties. In the future we would like to install some attractive holiday cottages.
Welcome and see you soon@Le Grand Bois
